I work across a range of media, including painting, collage, textiles and printmaking, often combining processes to explore new possibilities. These experimental approaches frequently lead to unexpected and rewarding outcomes. My practice is rooted in layering—building, obscuring, and revealing—sometimes scraping or sanding back painted surfaces to uncover earlier marks and histories beneath. This intuitive, organic process allows each piece to evolve naturally, often arriving somewhere unanticipated and entirely unique.
I am particularly drawn to the tactile qualities of different surfaces. Fabric holds a special appeal, as do handcrafted papers, especially those from Japan, where a deep cultural heritage and respect for papermaking continues to inform their beauty and integrity.
My work is unapologetically diverse, reflecting a wide range of influences. Inspiration comes from both the familiar and the unfamiliar: the shifting landscapes of the Surrey Hills, and the sensory richness of places encountered through travel. I often return from time away with a collection of visual references and a renewed sense of creative energy, driven by the enduring awe and wonder of the natural world.
